FOLIAGE | Needle evergreen. Medium green needles will turn bronze in the winter. |
FRUIT | Small, round cones only about 1” in diameter. |
GROWING CONDITIONS | Acid soil with abundant moisture. Prefers Full Sun – Part Shade. ‘Globosa Nana’ definitely needs Part Shade. This cultivar seems to falter in Full Sun in Maryland. |
FAVORITE CULTIVARS | ‘Globosa Nana’ is very slow growing, maintaining a soft round habit at all times. It develops an undulating appearance with age. ‘Black Dragon’ is also slow growing with extremely dark green foliage. It has an irregular, pyramidal habit, very small needles and may only reach 20’ ht. |
NOTES | Somewhat Deer Resistant. The straight species is more deer resistant than the cultivars mentioned above. |
